Figure 1: Field of Play

Rules

  1. First, create the tableau by placing 48 cards face down either in 4 rows by 12 columns or 12 rows and 4 rows
  2. Take the 4 cards from the last column or row. Keep these cards in a separate pile turned face down. This set of cards is now the stock pile (Fig 1.a.i)
  3. Turn the top card from the stock face up. You may exchange it with a card from the 44 cards in the field, and the card from the field goes to the bottom of the of your stock pile (Fig 1.a.ii). The goal is to line up each column by suit and each row by value (with the lights or animals being the most valuable, and the plain cards being the least).
  4. If a player picks up a card from the Willow suit, the card is taken out of play, and placed face up in a seperate row (Fig 1.c). Every time a Willow suit card is revealed the drawing stack is reduced by one card. The player can continue exchanging cards until all four Willow suit cards are revealed, and the stock is reduced to zero.
  5. The game ends when the 4 cards of the Willow suit are revealed, and there are no more cards in the stock. The player wins if they successfully flips over all of the cards in the fields and lines them up by suit.
